An Idol: Martin Luther King Jr. Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

An Idol: Martin Luther King Jr.

An idol my heart adore
The Joseph of our era
With eyes like ours
Saw more than others
Fear of God his guide
Fearless of man he proclaimed
The dream, the vision
Bound to manifest in purity
Tarry though it may

The dreamless were belligerence
At the revelation of a crude colour
Audacity and authority of a slave
Unrefined and Unpampered
But been unstoppable
In pursuit of truth and freedom
Shamelessly mowed him down
In prime and flesh
But the revelation still reign pure
And his spirit unyielding
Dwells in hearts.

I enjoyed reading your beautiful tribute, Kingsley, to a person whom I've also always admired, and whose work truly made the world a better place. Thanks for sharing.
