An Elegy For Sorrow Poem by abu tarek md tahsin

An Elegy For Sorrow

A tale
Of not so long ago
Still chime
In the winds and clouds
Of the earth
Through time

Of how sorrow
And pain
And crime
Came into this world
Of life

How a maiden once
Walked this Earth
Through the coldness
Of the night

Dark and pale
Slender as the night
She walked along
The seashore at 9

9 it was
In the evening of time
And as the waves
Touched her breast
She swiftly sighed
And died

The next morning came
From the Eastern side
And seagulls roamed
As she was returned
To the sea side

People who saw
Came to realize
A maiden
Had died

A maiden
Was no more
And no more
An angel did sigh

And what was left
Of the earth
Was returned
In due time

And people forgot
As life carried on
But the gods above
Did sigh
Of how a maiden
Dark and pale
Was lost
From the world of life

Of how
life betrayed
And her stars did stray
Away from her life
And the pines in the darkest forests
And the waves in the deepest seas
Cried
Because a maiden had died

Sorrow was unleashed
With pain and anger
Into this world of life

And since then
Every children born
Did do cry
Because now
the world
Had sorrow and pain
And crime
