The path caped with snow
Meandered its way towards dawn.
Frost covered trees formed a guard of honour
As we walked between them.
Night was beginning to grow weary
With the slowly approaching pre dawn light.
And the sound of our footsteps echoing
In the hard crunching snow.
The faint glow of stars began to dim,
As a slight but cold wind came from the East
Kissing our cheeks and blowing our
Frosty breath away as we walked onwards.
Two robins broke cover looking for food
But found it hidden beneath the snow.
The walk ended at the end of the path
When we reached our frost laden car
That patiently outside our slumbering old
House silently waiting for our return.
