Hello Jerry, you have taken me right back. It was the Mr whippee van and the bumble bee that really made me laugh. I hear Mr whipppee every Sunday. Cheers

This is excellent Jerry. I love it. It sounds like a script written for Paul hogan. It is all so real about suburban Australia. 'The sounds of Summer punctuated by flies' such clever writing..... Karin Anderson

Well how I can relate to this fun yet true poem. I lived in hot, horrible Blacktown in Sydney as a teenager and you are spot on. Loved it! Karin Anderson

It's strange, you write with things so specific to Australia- the dunny etc, and yet the sentimet could reflect any summer in the world. Summer in Durban, same smiles, as for England. I love that something as simple as the season brings out peoples true qualities. I love your imagery and wish I could travel to Australia right now and have a summer, especially one like your poem. Sounds idyllic.

Melissa's absolutely right. You have the uncanny knack of capturing the essence of the Australian experience, while adding your own particular brand of humor to lightens and enliven the experience. In particular 'shiny coins and eyes' and 'blue-tongue uncomfortable with strangers waddles into the hydrangeas'.. Also 'Sarah's red and glowing, not only from the sun.'. One of your best. love, Allie xxxxxxxxxxxx
