An Atomic Constellation Poem by Tina Baaklini

An Atomic Constellation

I didn't come to earth
To be an additional number
I wasn't created to be an ordinary woman
My mother didn't scream for hours
While giving me birth to crumble and fall
I wasn't born to raise white flags of surrender
I was born to be a fiery phoenix rising from ashes

I am a soul embodied to leave a trace
I was created to make glory
To be a guiding star in the sky of the lost
To achieve my goals and sow hope in souls

A woman like me is hard to give up
Hard to bend and hard to break
A woman like me gathers her shattered pieces
With love and strength, and rebuilds herself
It is impossible for her to accept defeat

I was born to be or not to be
I breathe myriads of strengths and determination
I'll be raging volcanoes, I'll be atomic constellations
