Learning from the ant to gain wisdom! ! Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
The poem has a clear message- 'Live and let live'- and the best way to do that is to learn to forgive even when we are in 'big pain'. Loved this inspirational poem, but sadly, I cannot rate it, as the rating system seems to have disappeared, or is there some fault with my PC? :)
Beautifully crafted and masterfully executed.10+++
A wonderful poem with a meaningful message. Everyone has his own strength. We could never understimate the capacity and power of anyone. A tiny dust can make us temporarily blind.
I enjoyed the underlying deeper message of this poem- I really did... it's just that an ant bit my tongue and my tongue swelled to the point I had to go to the emergency room and I guess I have a vindictive streak because I whoop up on any ant wandering into my house now! ! On a higher plane, I live and let live ants and spiders and other creepy crawlies who live outside and stay there... I think my higher plane is tilted...10+
Through such an insignificant occurrence like the bite of an ant, what lofty ideas you give for mulling over! Even the insignificant can produce visible results, a mighty man can be made helpless by even a tiny creature, forgiveness is better than punishment.... an attitude of tolerance and a policy of live and let live should be our guiding principle etc, etc! Powerful write! (10)
In this infinite world we are also like a ant and we are biting the nature.
Wow! This is such a great treasure, a best lesson for my human soul, thank you for sharing!
Ant is very small but it can an elephant in trouble. I have seen only creature who can carry more than her weight. God has made with all features as required for a life.à So, certainly it will be more unique and strong. Thanks for sharing.
'Small can do large Big can feel small, Surely an inspirational lesson.Thanks for sharing.
Small, simple yet very profound.. This a wonderful poem Howard.. Thanks for sharing :)
ants and other small creatures make fine grist for the poetic mill. i enjoyed this very much. i did wonder about the meaning of big can feel small, . i can't say i love ants, but i would rather have a thousand tiny ants (not the big ones!) on our kitchen counter, than one lousy, loafing relative camping out in our living room. well.................it depends on how cute she is. :) :) i liked the sharp rapid lines. long/strong was especially nice. :) bri it it were a lion, would you let live and forgive and love? ? ? to MyPoemList
Very profound poem. The pain was big...the memory long. Beautifully expresses the impact of a small thing on humans. And what makes this poem a very special one is that the biting of an ant usually goes unnoticed n is soon forgotten. Only a poetic mind like yours can turn the ordinary into extraordinary and can derive a lesson from the trivial. In the beginning the hurt may cause rage but gradually when the feelings subside n you think with a clear head, even the hurt was for your own good. Well penned.
just imagine when a ant does bite at ones tip and particularly elephant's then see what happens 'tis no fun
There is an old Hindi couplet which deals with a similar subject. It says that a sword cannot do what a small needle is capable of doing. But you have added another dimension to it- ant-bite pain and 'Live and let live- Love even ant'. Thanks.
A beautiful, philosophical poem. The ant may be tiny but its capacity to bite is immense. Just shows that we cannot under-estimate a being on the basis of its size. God has made all beings on this earth worthy. Let us learn to treat all alike with love and respect....As always a poem with a great message, Dear Poet Howard.....10
