Dear sir/madam, I write to you today,
To express my concerns in my own way.
These tetchy troubles they rule my heart,
And what follows now is just the start.
I've endured so many a sleepless night,
With what is the focus of my plight.
My desperate letter I hope you'll receive,
Then for you to judge and you to perceive.
It's Poetry at the heart of the matter,
Seems the four winds have made it scatter.
Poetry destined to be lost in time,
No poems of reason or poems of rhyme.
In today's society a subject deemed taboo,
So I write today seeking help from you.
Your newspaper's the finest second to none,
With items reaching out touching everyone.
Please, please, I beseech of you only one thing,
Begin a poetry section and the good it'll bring.
I'm realistic to know that decision is yours,
A revival of Poetry perhaps can open new doors.
For Poetry is art and culture combined,
And food for thought for a reader's mind.
I hope my suggestion is seen as a plus,
Yours Sincerely and Poetically,
Anonymous.
Wow, what a wonderful and one of a kind poem, Shaun. Your brilliant mind can always weave something out from anything. A wonderful thought....an inspiration for Poetry. So beautifully crafted and expressed. Thank you, Shaun for sharing. To my Poem List.
Very true Shaun...' the four winds have' indeed ' made it scatter' That's why I appreciate the Northern Cross newspaper here in the North East of England. It regularly features my religious/ spiritually inspired poetry. I'm hoping to write several for the Advent period which will shortly be upon us. Anyway I digress, it's a 'for God's sake bring pack a poetry section' inspired five from me!
Shaun, this is a delightful poem, and I hope the editor takes you up on your suggestion. Unfortunately, the poetry section in our little local paper features mostly religious drivel. Everyone's an armchair evangelist, but not so much a poet!
Your message has reached it is goal and your poem is marvelous and so strong, it deserves 5 stars, we wish you every success.
