Rating: 4.5

As I was walking through the woods on a warm Summer day
Then saw an Angel up ahead as I went along my way
My reaction to this Angel was not borne out of fear
I began to speak softly for I knew that she could hear

A good depiction of the essence of guardian angel portrayed in a well articulated narrative poem, nicely written with spiritual insight. Thanks for sharing Patricia. Please read my poem COLOSSAL MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE.

This is a delightful poem. It covers so much of life. There is the concept of a guardian angel for each individual. There is also the notion that acts of kindness performed by other people are angelic. And why not? Even Hamler, that inveterarte pessimist, had to admit human beings resemble angels - at least part of the time (Oh Ophelia!) Angels play a striking role in modern poetry. In his DUINO ELEGIES Rilke addresses angels frequently, Rafael Alberti has a whole volume devoted to angels and it is stunning! And the Angel Huertebise appears in Cocteau's films as well as his poems. You might want to check my poem THE VISITATION OF ANGELS. I usually don't promote my own poems in these comments but this one is relevant

I really enjoy reading this poem as it helps to solidify my faith in God and his protective power.. Whether or not the writer actual saw an angel is not my concern. I see the writer as a spiritual partner and a sister in Christ letting us all know that in our daily walk we are always accompanied by God's angel.I will never forget how when my son was a baby he fell through the back door a few feet high and landed on the stones below and he was unscathed.I believed the angel of the lord protected him then.

A world of fantasy you created wonderfully. The Angel here is the good spirit who guards the innocent soul.

Nice diction and cadence. Easy flow of words and thoughts. But did the poet actually see an angel in the woods? ? Poems become very powerful when one writes from one's direct personal experience. Face to face experience of truth infuses a poem's words with magical powers of conviction. Metrical composition is good, although the poet may like to experiment with other forms as well. Poetry is all about freedom - discovering ever new territories of art, content and form.... (Metaphorically the poem can refer to the guiding light one frequently experiences while going through a difficult phase - woods - in life...)

Lovely, your own Angel. I believe we all have angels guarding and protecting us, how wonderful to read of yours. This poem should be up there with 'foot prints in the sand' xx

Your poem has a very good feeling. I think we all need an angel following us all the time. Your rhyming is flawless, the kind I can really get into.
