Ambush Poem by Dorsey Baker

Ambush

The train is coming!
Moving very fast
Rolling down the track
A whole lot of miles ahead
Before destination
Is come to
The wind is whistling
Steam engine
Heavy horn is blowing

An eagle flies
Wide it's wingspan
Across a clear blue sky

Suddenly
The train begins to
Slow down
And eventually
It stops
By the occurrence
Of a heavyweight log
Appearing upon the track

In its path placed
Delaying arrival time

Ambushed
The train is held up
By a very large log that had fallen
From a big tree lying across the track
Stopping the fast moving train
Delaying its progress!
