Am I A Dog? {for H.B.} Poem by Shane Markie

Am I A Dog? {for H.B.}

I never said I never wanted help from you.
I might as well inform your other co-workers that
The tension between the two of us seems
Irrevocable, and that you would rather not
Consider me a person anymore.

All because
I'm not supposed
To repeat any words
That you alone ought say.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
About a caregiver in the 'assisted living' community where I live. Sometimes the 'assistance' may seem questionable. Sometimes the act of 'living' in such a location may seem tenuous.
