Always Looking Ahead Poem by Ulas Basar Gezgin

Always Looking Ahead

I recognized you from your boots,
From your white hat, from your green shawl.
I recognized you from far ahead, further ahead.

It is so far that it can be considered as near if you look back,
But we left everything behind, by always looking ahead.

You were there, I was here
And you were here, I was there at times.
Surprised to see that we became distant very fast.

It is so far that it can be considered as near if you look back,
But we left everything behind, by always looking ahead.

In fact we started this life back to back against the dog-eat-dog world,
We got more and more distant from that initial point every time.
Nobody was left behind, when we looked back.

It is so far that it can be considered as near if you look back,
But we left everything behind, by always looking ahead.

At least, the world is round,
I find solace in this sometimes.
That means sooner or later we will find each other.

Let's look back, let's look back, so that near would become near, and far would be far.
Let's call ‘back' as ‘ahead'; who cares, it is the same way, isn't it...
