When people behave altruistically, their brains activate in regions that signal pleasure and reward, similar to when they eat chocolate (or have) .there is more to self......... your poet's note struck me dear poetess........ altruism, doing good to others is our definite call which gives us a lot of joy. thank u bringing this point in your fine poem. tony

True, Dr. Tony, it's the mark of being human, and we can attribute this characteristic to one God who made all, no matter the color or belief. :)

A masterpiece, Doris! Thanks for sharing! (Although I feel a selfish jealousy for this poem....)

Why so, my dear Kostas? This poem is for all of us who gave altruistically for a purpose greater than our own selfish ones. Only the selfless purpose goes unfiltered through all eternity, while the selfish motivations are held against the light or burned to ashes. You would know that. :)

Hi Bro. Bernard. I lost my mom recently and in the loss, I found many treasures. I am truly inspired by all that was left but unable to see previously, due to her sickness and her suffering. Thank you for your inspiring appreciation. :)
