Alone On The Couch Poem by Randy McClave

Alone On The Couch

As I sit alone on my couch
Without a girlfriend or even a spouse,
Watching the tv shows that I wanna watch
While drinking Dr. Pepper, and not any Scotch.
I have a slice of pizza on my plate
As I dine alone again, without a date,
Later today there is no place for me to go
So, then I'll watch another adventure show.
I already went outside to check my mail
But, there was not a card sent to me by a female,
All that I received were bills
And no cards from Amy's, Emily's, Heathers or Jill's.
Later I'll go out and I'll buy me some sweets
Just for me some special treats,
Just for me that I can enjoy later all alone
While looking for messages or lost calls on my phone.
I now think of all the moments that had passed me by
While all alone not once did I cry,
And the missed tokens of affections
That led me to different directions.

Later tonight when I go to bed
I will reminisce of the things that I had done and said,
And one belief I will remember that I did not do or say
I did not wish any, "Happy Valentine's Day".
