Allegiance Poem by Uche Nwanze

Allegiance

Lost in the woods of love
Most of people search for a lifetime
Blessed me by the gods to gift me this horse
Not a trojan but a trophy
A goddess of beauty with the goodness of a Saint
The cost of this gem is priceless
The post of her poise on the cover of vogue was captivating
The host of angels serenades her appearance
A precious stone hewn from the banks of the River Euphrates
Most people dig for a lifetime
Find they not a worthy pearl
The Cosmos bequeathed me a fortune
Fortune smiled at me
Who am I, a flawed man who has been floored by the goddess of love
Eureka! Like Archimedes I exclaimed, dancing abashly naked like King David
She is the epicentre of my existential
Alas! Like Adam screamed I to the heavens, ti's the bone of my bones, the flesh of my flesh
In Seven reincarnated lifetime my companion will thy be
Till my dying breath, my Loyalty to your fealty I pledge
For my lifetime, to you my Valentine I affirm

Allegiance
