The Essence to whom we owe nothing but gratitude
Knows this:
Before the beginning
Throughout the ages
Now and forevermore
The cosmos
And everything in it
Including you and me
Are one

Remember this truth
That each and every one of us
Our world
This universe
From the farthest planet
Of the farthest star
In the farthest galaxy
To the stardust
That makes our cells
The energy that beats our hearts
Right here where we are
Are one

Remembering this truth
We are one
We call this
Heaven

Forgetting the unifying impulse
This love connecting us
One and all
Well
The name for that dear friend
Is Hell

The source of suffering
The glee one sees
When a braggart
Revels in the harm
They cause another
The cruelty that arises
In the absence of empathy and compassion
The source of war and misery
Of hate and self-righteousness
Of nationalism and prideful boasting
Of dehumanization and fear
Religious intolerance
Hopelessness
Famine, indifference, intransigence
Racism, misogyny, sexism, self-loathing
Shame
Of wealth that consolidates power
Despoils the land, air and seas
Of poverty and disease
Emptiness of character
The source of evils
The essence of sin
Artificial distinctions
Between us and them

We are one
Our differences make us interesting
Life is rich in diversity
We have more in common
Than fear would have us believe

When we wake up to the universal truth
We are all united
Divinely created
Our value immeasurable
Our dignity, prosperity, and joy
Conserved
We will learn
Each of us wants to make a difference
Spirit wants it so
We naturally let go of history's misguided hatreds
Our new life unfolds before us

Recognize yourself in others
Love them as you would want to be loved
Bring forth kindness
Hospitality
Respect
Humility
Curiosity
And a readiness to learn

We are

When we say the sacred words of awakening
I Am
We are saying the sacred words of self-knowledge
We Are
None of us exists without the other
When we come to this
Then we can see
The Way
The Truth
The Light
