Al-Farabi, The Second Tutor Poem by Mohammad Yousef

Al-Farabi, The Second Tutor

By Mohammad A. Yousef

In the heart of the ancient sands,
where the whispers of the past
dance on the winds of time,
there arose a luminary,
a beacon of thought—
Al-Farabi, the Second Tutor,
a philosopher draped in wisdom,
his mind a vast expanse of stars,
his spirit an unquenchable flame.

He walked the streets of the intellect,
where Aristotle's shadow still lingered,
his teachings woven into the fabric
of the minds that sought
the harmony of the universe,
the balance of reason and faith,
the melody of knowledge and virtue.

In the quiet corners of his mind,
he painted a tapestry of thought,
where logic intertwined with love,
and ethics danced with metaphysics,
each thread a story,
each hue a reflection
of the human condition—
a quest for the truth
that flows like a river,
deep and ever-changing.

Oh, Al-Farabi, son of the desert,
you spoke of the city of virtue,
a realm where the soul could soar,
where wisdom reigned supreme,
and the heart was a compass,
guiding the wayward
toward enlightenment's embrace.

You crafted music with your pen,
philosophical symphonies that echoed
through the chambers of time,
a dialogue with the ancients,
a bridge between worlds,
a testament to the power
of thought unfettered,
the courage to question,
the grace to understand.

In your eyes, the cosmos unfolded,
the stars a map of the divine,
each twinkle a reminder
that we are threads in a grand design,
interwoven with purpose,
each life a note in the symphony,
each mind a universe unto itself.

You taught us to strive,
to seek the good, the true, the just,
to cultivate the garden of the soul,
to nourish the roots of knowledge,
to blossom in the light of understanding,
to recognize the beauty in diversity,
the strength in unity,
the wisdom in humility.

Al-Farabi, the Second Tutor,
your legacy echoes still,
a call to the seekers, the dreamers,
the thinkers of today,
to rise above the noise,
to embrace the silence of reflection,
to engage in the dialogue of existence,
to navigate the labyrinth of ideas,
with courage, compassion,
and an unwavering thirst for truth.

So let us gather,
in the spirit of inquiry,
with hearts wide open,
souls aflame with passion,
to honor your vision,
to carry forth the torch
of knowledge, wisdom, and love,
etched in the annals of time,
as we walk the path you illuminated,
guided by the stars
you so tenderly charted.
