Alexandrian Sonnet 7 Poem by Alexandrian Ink

Alexandrian Sonnet 7

Rating: 5.0

When sometimes I look at my five fingers
The distinctive size and length of them each,
Then gaze at everyone around, especially the sucklers;
Everything, said I to one, everything can't be equal I beseech:
Oh little babe, oh little babe, uncertain it is:
If you'll growstunted or rapidly tall
If you'll live in war or in peace,
If you'll always rise and never fall,
If you'll be full of strength or weak,
If you'll be brave or you'll untame,
If you'll be full of words or cannot speak,
If you'll be poor or rich with fame,
Whether celibacy, babe, I know not, nor marriage, a wife;
It's only but death that has certainty in the course of life.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The distinctive size and length are observed at five fingers. Living is peace means rising in life. We do not need war that gives falling and pain. This is an amazing poem brilliantly penned on death topic...10
