A beautiful humourous poem has been created by you taking the furniture plus toilet. Amusing expression. Thanks for sharing. Five stars.
Thank you, Susan! So good to hear this can still evoke a laugh....Many thanks!
I have returned for a lighter look at life, for a chuckle and a giggle or even for a guffaw- -the world is a cold unfeeling place out there, my friend, we'd better make friends with our home and its furnishings. Humor is hard to write and you did it perfectly- -a million laughing stars for you, my dear friend 10++++++++++++++++++++++
Love this poem's sense of humor! ! ! Me, I have scolded, made fun of, cursed, and described the ancestry of just about every furniture or appliance in my house 10
And they know it, Susan! I've pretty much done similar things. Thanks so much for reading.
Nice poem, Lemon. Why not, :) . What if, a sofa or a fan is rather more humble for a peaceful conversation than a person.
Thank you so much, Muhammad. That fan indeed can be such a soothing conversationalist.
I love your sense of humor and the casual tone of this poem as if you are talking to a friend over a cup of coffee and sharing your wry thoughts about modern " culture" and advancements! 10+++++++++++++
Thank you, Susan! You are actually rather right about how this poem came about. I was telling someone about the number of people I've noticed who spend time- good time- talking to objects.
Whether anyone listens me or not Whether anyone understands me or not I have to say I have to work For me to survive
" deranged" ? the poem, the poet, the reader? You could hang this poem next to Dali's painting, " The Persistence of Memory" . I wonder if my wife and the sofa are related. hmm? bri :)
Aha! ! Indeed you caught it. Or, him. Salvador, that is....The painting you mention did come to mind as I worked towards the end of this poem. Thanks, Bri.
It is a natural craving for every body that someone should be around to listen to when we open up our mind! Unfortunately we feel much more alienated from our fellow beings than our ancestors. The thought that there is no body with whom we can confide our longings and frustrations is disappointing. Technology has an easy solution to everything and Alexa listens to us though this contraption can hardly fathom our thoughts. Great write!
Thank you so much for these replies, Valsa. Yes, technology does seem to have an answer for all our problems, including social isolation. But you have me wondering how much of the problem is caused by technology in the first place...so that the solution can be supplied.
We wish to have somebody to listen to us! It is a primary instinct of man to have someone around to speak to who will be able to understand our inner cravings and frustrations. Unfortunately modern man feels a lot more isolated than our ancestors. With the development of technology, we have Alexa to listen to us though that technical contraption cannot fathom our thoughts. Great write Lemon!
We need to talk with something and someone that can respond. Even with robot, how much intelligent we put it still artificial... and here come the interesting with human an living things were the bond can be built by such delicate interaction. Mobile phones make people dependent on them, but without real interaction life is empty.
Thank you so much, Soul...and you have me thinking that the 'artificial' in intelligence flows in both directions.
this poem makes me think how technology is making us stupid and lazy
Thank you so much, Kumarmani. Thank you for your kind remarks.
