When Dr. Albert Einstein turned 50, on 14th March 1929,
It was a day of celebration and jubilation!
Congratulatory messages poured in from every corner
Of the world -from scientists, physicists, artistes,
Both young, old, women and children.
Fifty years of his life, were magnificent years,
Of not just discoveries in science or innovations in physics,
But as a humanist, educationalist and a pacifist par excellence.
Dr. Einstein's friends were keen on bestowing on him,
A generous gift of a 'Summer Home' to be sponsored
By the City of Berlin. But unfortunately, it did not happen!
Various political hostility and objections, ruled it out.
Einstein became tired of antipathy and antagonism.
He decided to buy his own property and build a beautiful
Summer house in Caputh, a splendid countryside near Berlin,
Just adjacent to a serene lake, with a breath-taking view.
Einstein's friends and fans were disappointed
That their plan of gifting a house was foiled.
But they were persistent in their desire to gift him.
They, more than compensated, by buying him a Sailboat,
Wherein he could sail on the boat, whenever it pleased him.
Within months the house was built and by September 1929,
The Einstein family shifted to their new home in Caputh.
With fresh, unpolluted air of the countryside, Dr. Einstein's health improved considerably!
Though, I have not visited Berlin,
I had several opportunities to visit many parts of Germany
Along with my husband and daughter, over the years.
Germany is a fabulous country blessed with natural beauty.
It is one of the most beautiful countries that I have visited.
Travelling along the Rhine river route is a marvellous experience!
I always felt that it was a place where ‘Hans Andersen's Fairly Tales' came alive.
I can well imagine, how Dr. Einstein must have felt in his country house!
The fantastic brain of Dr. Einstein must have wondered,
While he sailed in his boat in the lake of Caputh,
Joyfully pondering over the essence of science, truth and
Admiring the beauty of the Superior Spirit of the Cosmos!
