I wonder whether any scientist in this world
Has travelled, as much as Dr. Albert Einstein, ever did!
He had such a personality and aura around him that
That people, of all ages surrounded him
With much awe and admiration.
Invitations poured in from different countries,
For lectures, workshops and seminars,
Especially, on his pet subject of ‘Relativity'.
Einstein enjoyed his trips to various places,
Most of the time, accompanied by his wife Elsa.
On his way back from his first trip to America in 1921,
Dr. Einstein stopped in England to give a lecture
On his very popular topic of ‘Theory of Relativity',
First, at the King's College, University of London,
And then, at the ‘Manchester University'.
His signature on the blackboard in Manchester
Is still preserved as a treasure! During this trip,
Dr. Einstein did not forget to pay his respects
To Sir Isaac Newton at West Minister Abbey,
And to lay a bouquet of flowers at his tomb.
In 1922, Dr. Einstein was delighted to make a trip to Japan.
Einstein with his wife Elsa, were the guests of- Kaizosha-
A Japanese publisher, who organised a series of lectures
With a generous fee and a comfortable stay in Japan.
The Einsteins enjoyed their six weeks trip to Tokyo.
They stopped in Singapore, Hong Kong, Ceylon & Shanghai.
Dr.Einstein was fascinated by different cultures and customs.
He wrote of his impressions on places, people in his notebook.
It was during his journey to Shanghai, that he received
The news of Nobel Prize Award, to be bestowed on him.
Dr. Einstein now, as a Nobel Laureate, added to his prestige.
He was given a rousing welcome and treated like a celebrity in Japan.
He gave lectures in Tokyo, Sendai, Kyoto and Fukuoka.
Dr Einstein was charmed by the Japanese hospitality
And their refined customs. He wrote about the Japanese
People to be 'A happy and healthy society whose members are fully absorbed in it.'
During his last event in Fukuoko, at the YMCA Christmas party,
Dr, Einstein played his violin, to the delight of the entire audience.
That was not all!
Dr Einstein and Elsa continued their journey,
Again, on another long voyage by ship,
To the middle East and many more places!
How wonderful to be travelling and discovering new places!
