A Found Poem is the gathering and assembling of grouped words "found" in the environment
and incorporating the "found" phrases and words into a larger poetic piece.
It is a "snatch of poetry". Printed images or phrases assembled in a literary collage.
The lineal arrangement rearranges the phrases to create an entirely different piece.
It presents things found in the poet's surroundings such as a news article, a poem, letters,
dialogue or anything. The poetry is much larger than the "found lines"
that intersperse the poet's words. It was recognized in the 20th century

1. What An Ugly Duck…

My husband was water skiing when he fell into the river.
As the boat circled to pick him up, he noticed a hunter sitting in a duck boat in the reeds.
My husband put his hands in the air and joked, "Don't shoot! "

The hunter responded, "Don't quack."

What An Ugly Duck…(Found Poem)

Water skiing, he fell into the river
As circled the boat to pick him up
Noticed he a hunter sitting in a duck boat
Putting his hands in the air
Joked, "Don't shoot! "
Responded the hunter "Don't quack."
"O'My husband
What an ugly duck…! ! "

2. A Fly-Killer's Pickle

My three-year-old daughter stuck out her hand and said, "Look at the fly I killed, Mommy."
Since she was eating a juicy pickle at the time,
I thrust her contaminated hands under the faucet and washed them with antibacterial soap.
After sitting her down to finish her pickle, I asked, with a touch of awe,
"How did you kill that fly all by yourself? "
Between bites, she said, "I hit it with my pickle."

A Fly-Killer's Pickle (Found Poem)

"Look at the fly I killed, Mommy"
Eating a juicy pickle
My three-year-old daughter said

Her contaminated hands..
Repulsively at once
under the faucet
I thrust and washed

with a touch of awe I asked
"How did you kill that fly all by yourself? "
"hit it with my pickle"
Between bites, she said

3.No Bedside Manner

I'd never had surgery, and I was nervous.
"This is a very simple, noninvasive procedure, " the anesthesiologist reassured me.
I felt better, until … "Heck, " he continued,
"you have a better chance of dying from the anesthesia than the surgery itself."

Alankar 241 is a very informative write on found poems. "Snatch of poetry" is very meticulously crafted with suitable examples collected from different sources. Though the concept emerged somewhere in 20th century, still many of us are not aware of it. In fact, this is altogether a different art of molding find words, phrases, and of course sentences that appear in poetic into a new, refined poetic piece... liked it very much...10
