I am extremely happy that you have talked about the stones too...very often I tell my grand children about this...be it stone or a dried wood, if they too can respond to temperature means they too have a kind of life...you are a good mother and a teacher Geeta...stay blessed always

Thank you so much Indira Madam! I truly believe that all creations have 'prana' or life, whether it is a stone, wood or a piece of grass. It is important for us to respect all manifestations of nature. So kind of you Ma'm! God bless you!

Whilst reading this poem I felt such warmth. It is written with such knowledge and wisdom. In my experience I've learnt we have prejudice towards ourselves: leading to self-hatred and unless we are able to tap into these defects and heal the soul we will continue having violence. All that makes this planet an ugly place to be.

Thank you Christina for your warm appreciation of the poem. I can feel the warmth. Yes, we need to heal the self first so that all the negative qualities ingrained within us is fully removed. To practice Ahimsa we need to purify ourselves first. Please do excuse me for replying so late, I just saw it Christina. God bless you!

A very intriguing poem about a subject I knew nothing about. Quite a lesson in yogic way of life, it sure does encompass a lot of topics! A really great and peaceful message within your words, especially the path of non- violence! Thank you for sharing this great wisdom. RoseAnn

My humble Namaskar to You Sir! When i first wrote this poem there were critical comments as being childish. Though kindness and tolerance may sound easy in words, they are very, very difficult to practise in real life. They form an essential ingredient of Yogic life. It is only through tolerance (as you have rightly pointed out) that love is generated which leads to peace in life. As a veteran poet of Poem Hunter, i thank you profusely for your valuable comment.

You explain it all so nicely, Geeta. I thought Gandhiji coined ahimsa but surely he is the one who spread it all over the world and inspired other great figures like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King. I like how you narrate the poem by means of a discussion between a mother and a child. Thank You. I have a request I always wanted to know and understand the terms Karma and Karma Yogi. I was in the process of reading the Bhagwat Gita but flood came to my place and lost most books including the Bhagwat Gita and the Holy Quran. And feel particularly bad about losing my favourite book 'The Silmarallion' by J.R.R. Tolkien which my nephew had gifted me.

The word 'Ahimsa' is found in the ancient scriptures of Hindu Dharma. In Sage Patanjali's Yoga - Sutras, it is considered to be a 'Mahavrata' meaning 'Great vow'. Yes! Gandhiji was the one who propagated Ahimsa through his own life as an example. That's why Ahimsa is strongly associated with Mahatma Gandhi.I have written a poem on Gandhi and Ahimsa as well. This poem is more of a dialogue than a 'poem' in actual sense of the word. Through its simplicity of Mother Child dialogue, i wanted to expose the deep values embedded in it. that would eventually lead to Ahimsa. Since, it is not easy to explain a philosophy through a poem specially to new readers, i adopted a very simple technique.

Thanks so much Geeta for explaining Karma Yogi. Hey listen you don't need to send me The Silmarallion, I just mention personal stuff like this because I like to when in fine company of people such as yourself and Kelly Kurt- he is a brilliant poet philosopher here on PH. Read some of his poems if you have the time I am sure you will like. And I am having huge net problems here myself I am not able to read and comment on PH.

Thank you once again, Ayman. Now that you have introduced a poet philosopher named Kelly Kurt, i shall certainly search out his poems and read them. Due to rains in Mumbai, the internet connection problem persists.
