A very good poem - I am able to see the images of the day he experienced the smudging ceremony.
THX so very much, Carl. Very happy that my poem helped you to vividly see that highly spiritual ceremony.
What a great tribute! I have never heard his music but I am sure he must be a legend. With this tribute you have immortalised him. Legends don't die anyway though.
Nosheen, I'm happy that you took the time to read and comment on my tribute poem. And, as always, your comments are always very meaningful. THX so very much.
A friendly tribute to a great pop singer of Canada is wonderful read! Thanks for sharing it with us
Thanks for sharing. I'll stretch my rating to 4 stars. : ) bri
The rating's not that important to me, Bri. The fact that you took the time to read and comment is what I truly appreciate. THX so much.
I'm a bit 'out of my element' on this one, being unfamiliar with Gord Downie's life and music. It's a well-wrttten poem, but, but, like many/most? poems would appeal to certain readers. bri : )
Bri, THX for your positive constructive criticism. There are a ton of poems on PH that I would never have read in the past. I'm proud to say that I've become much more open minded. And as a result, I've been richly rewarded!
'Fiddler's Green is an extrasolar colony mentioned in Robert A. Heinlein 's novels The Cat Who Walks Through Walls and Friday. In Neil Gaiman 's The Sandman comic book series, Fiddler's Green is a place located of the Dreaming, a place that sailors have dreamed of for centuries'
Thank you for this info, Bri. But you fail to mention that it's also a tribute song by The Tragically Hip written in memory of Gord's nephew who had died at a very tender age. That info is what is crucial to this poem! And is the basis of my heartfelt tribute!
'Gordon Edgar Downie CM (February 6,1964 - October 17,2017) was a Canadian rock singer-songwriter, musician, writer and activist. He was the lead singer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip
Fantastic tribute, Richard. He indeed was ahead by a century. Really hard to believe it has already been four years.
THX so very much, M.J. for re-visiting my poem and for your very positive comments.

Dear Richard, Thank you for this wonderful tribute poem to a well known singer - Gord Downie. Though i have never heard about this singer. i am so touched that you have written a beautiful poem for an artiste.
Geeta, if you get a chance, please listen to a song or two by The Tragically Hip. Their songs provide a good insight into what Canada is all about. And their song COURAGE is legendary. One of the best songs EVER!
Although, far away here in the U.S.A., I had never heard of Gord Downie before, you have written a marvelous tribute. Well done, Richard.
Greatly appreciate your very positive response, my neighbourly poet!
Feels Great to remember the renowned, much loved singer. Loved by music lovers all over the world. A fitting tribute.
I'm happy that my poem brought back some good memories for you. THX for your positive comments, Poet Menon.
A beautiful tribute to a great musical icon. Nicely composed and very touching. Thanks.
I cant believe I never commented on this one! As a Canadian the Tragically Hip are the quite essential Canadian band, Gord was the poet who kept that band together. Fantastic tribute Richard, fitting for a legend!
With over 4500 poems to my credit, you're bound to miss a couple. So very grateful to you, my friend for all of your wonderful comments throughout the years!
2) cont'd: This special tribute had become even more meaningful after the addition of Fiddler's Green. That inspiration had come from two of my friends who were huge Hip fans. That was their favourite song.
