Jim, As your poem Parenthood showed up as a New Poem in PH, i read it and have now read several of your new poems. I respond to this one because I wonder if the little girl is your granddaughter, because our granddaughter, now six and in kindergarten, is a big part of our lives. One of the things I notice about ours is that physical appearance isn't that important to her. When she's talked to us about the boys she likes, the supreme quality is that he's nice. On your poems in general, I like your spirit as it comes through. You have skill in rhyming and meter which i think lends itself to humor- which show through in this poem. Are you familiar with Ogden Nash? I'm glad to have discovered you on PH and anticipate reading more of your stuff. For another take on aging, you might check out my poem Aging as Ascent. On granddaughters, you might like my Imprinting: The Birth of Nova and Dream Debut. All the best to you. Glen Kappy
