Ageless Wonder Poem by D.N. Rebb

Ageless Wonder

A passage anytime to remember
To hold one's attention
Child poses next question
Memoires as vivid as flaming ember

Strict accuracy that punctures the heart
Mystery, it is not
Black n' white photo shot
Forbidden chronicles tartly unlocked

Honored monuments treated with respect
Perhaps, first no reason
It just had to be done
How many have stood just the same, and wept?

All these varied wonders on sacred grounds
Meaningless chatter lost
Make the sign of the cross
Long silence, only the wind breathes a sound

Liberate hibernating anecdotes
Eyes closed, in prayer bow
Tears for them, may allow
For all that is left, are ancestral ghosts

Experiences to happily oblige
True philosophy shared
And bright prospects explored
Sheer wonder that inspires, the only pledge

Purely scriptural, or just history
Bound for humanity
Graven imagery
Curious wonder, now personal glory
