I sit here in silence
remembering the times
his muse took a moment
to cuddle with mine,
but I'm all alone
in this dark empty space
just dreaming of him
and the starlight we'd chase.
Sweet words of desire
would dance on the page,
our souls intertwined
as the music engaged
a duet of romance
we'd pen in the night
with plans for tomorrow
remaining in sight.
But destiny's fickle
and winds of change blow,
dividing our union
before it could grow.
A fantasy? Maybe,
yet still it felt real
and when he departed
my heart turned to steel.
Now passion is locked
in a prison of time
where memories haunt me
with love that's not mine
and lead me to ponder,
while reaching for stars,
perhaps love can never
survive from afar.
