You paint a beautiful scene with a sensory touch hinting at the substance of the story letting us fill in the missing parts.

ineffably sad but stolen fruits tend to leave a bitter aftertaste

The ending made me say: ouch! But this is quite a story, my friend, and could happen in reality. It's amazing how brilliantly captured it in this piece. You're great! : -)

Laurie, this is so gentle and tender. The lovely words you use, make me feel so very sad... Although your words are soft, there is such strong pathos through the poem from you to touch the reader's sympathetic heart. Top marks! Karin Anderson

Love lorn and love torn is the message I get from this powerful poem. Great piece indeed. Mark

Not a word too much or too little. It starts like any romantic poem and then the sad sweet ending is a surprise. I wasn't expecting it.

So sad, I hope it is not true, and only imagined. But I know the pain of rejection so this speaks to me. Nicely done Laurie, as always. Susan
