Afro-Saxons Poem by Stefan Splawinski

Afro-Saxons

imperial tribe of the darkest hue
cut free from rastafarians grip
roman dane then norman conquest
chilly arrivals from banana ship

universal brotherhood and profit
africas original people now lost
all peoples brought together for
empire built on low labour cost

from windward and leeward islands
to this new land quickly inducted
lodgings arranged with employment
factory filled and bus conducted

friendly brixton and notting hill
babylon next thames waters found
grey city of such dreary weather
with good pay on the underground

Afro-Saxons
