Afghan refugees, displaced and torn
From their homeland, they've been forced to mourn
Their lives uprooted, by war and strife
Leaving behind, their homes and life
They trek across, the treacherous land
In search of safety, and a helping hand
Carrying with them, just the clothes they wear
Leaving behind, all they held dear
Their journey is long, and filled with dread
As they cross borders, with fear and dread
But they hold on, to their hope and dreams
Of a better life, beyond the screams
They arrive in new lands, with wary eyes
As they face new challenges, and start to acclimatize
But their strength and resilience, shines through
As they rebuild their lives, anew
Their culture and traditions, they hold dear
And they share them, with those who will hear
Their stories of survival, and determination
Inspires us all, to work towards a better nation
So let us welcome, these refugees with open arms
And help them heal, from the scars of harm
For in their struggles, lies a lesson true
Of perseverance, and hope anew.
