AFFINITY has three elements I liked, and I was only aware of one of them when I started reading. Let's call that #3 because it occurs at the end of the poem, namely, the metaphor of binary orbit around a planet. Astronomy deals in such large phenomena I never think of using it for figures - but this one works very well. #2 You characterize the friends whose humor impresses you VIVIDLY - I feel I got to know them, in part because you made their presence so vital, eg. the way they create an atmosphere of good humor but are hardly aware of being so charming. (It takes me so many words to say what flies by lightly in the poem!) And finally #1 This is a touching show of gratitude to friends. In fact, you could call this poem FRIENDSHIP because it expresses that abstract noun so concretely.
