My god gave me, Adam, life in Earth's Garden of Eden,
and God's Serpent to take care of all the garden's weedin'.
The serpent became my soulmate but I'd wished for 'more',
and Serpent insisted it didn't want to behave like a whore.
Still, we both enjoyed the vast bounty of the Garden's wealth,
the fruits, and small creatures, and we toasted each other's health.
No foods were forbidden to us, but I had 'unmet needs', I did.
I prayed to God to give me a mate and, that, from 'Serpie', I hid.
Soon after my prayer'd been sent, I felt a pain in my side in bed.
It was not a great pain, but from a cut over my ribcage I had bled.
It healed quickly and the next day a dark-skinned 'Eve' appeared.
(I named her for the Evening, and with thanks and joy I cheered.)
I pulled from my favorite tree a large and juicy red apple to share.
Serpie was watching and, at Eve's first bite, my dear friend did swear:
'Adam, you sneak, you've betrayed me and you'll suffer for that!
Our god's on vacation & left me in charge.' On Eve and I it spat.
When our god returned and learned of the turmoil in our dear Eden,
it took the side of the serpent. After all, the garden needed weedin'.
Henceforth, outside Eden, humans have been 'on their own'. It's so sad,
and, from Adam and Eve's offspring to this day, life's often been BAD.

Wow! That is good! I don't have the analytical or word skills that you possess. But I loved the poem. So beautifully captured the feeling of solitude of Adam
oops! ! ! 'On Eve and I it spat.' SHOULD 'read': 'on Eve and me it spat.' It took LESS THAN two years for me to catch my typo, which I probably won't bother, now, to correct. ;))
Sure, whoever does not care to read this beautiful poem, stand to lose a fantastic poetic experience.
Unni, many thanks for generous comments. Now we'll see if anyone else dares to comment. Hell, maybe no one else will read. It may be THEIR loss more than mine. bri ;) : )
Part 4. "God has an axe to grind" should be an apt title for your next poem.
I don't recall ever seeing your comment and maybe I never did. HMM? 'God has an axe/ax to grind'? ? Maybe SHE does! ! !
And I didn't know the role of Serpent in the whole episode. So a factual error crept in in my ‘Eve'. Now I am not correcting it. Let god forgive me. Or, I won't mind spending Eternity in the Hell. Of course, you would be company.😀
;)))))))))))))))))))) INDEED I WOULD be there 'for you' and others! ! ;)
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
Part 2. The overt sarcasm on God is what enjoyed, "After all, garden needed weeding"… It is after all, his garden and he needs to take care of it. So he sides with ‘Serpie', naturally. God, just like humans, can selfish…😀
'overt': Opposite of hidden. Here are 2/3rds of meanings I found for 'sarcasm': A cutting, often ironic remark intended to express contempt or ridicule. A form of wit characterized by the use of such remarks. No offense meant, 'God'. ;) bri
