for THE FEBRUARY CONTEST (VOTING DONE IN MARCH) GO TO BRIAN JOHNSTON'S PH SITE AND READ HIS NEW POEM ENTITLED; A C P C - 2015/02 New Challenge Poem/Title Contest - Info YES, IT IS A C P C, not ACTC! Brian changed one word. bri :)
My Answer To Brian Johnston's Cute Comment That Brian 'likes me a lot', makes me tremble, for none of my four wives does he resemble. Yes, I've never laid claim to academic heights, but I rule PH! It's one of my God-given rights! Does he confuse me with some Tibetan monk? Or is he talking about some cute simian hunk? Half of what Brian writes, of course, is just junk. That's what comes from tent-sleeping (no bunk) . Just like most Christians, he does want MORE, despite all the blessings, on him, God does pour. Yes, my God may have been a brutish bore, but when He produced ME, he truly did score! thanks, Brian. for the poem, the comments/poems, and the vote. i know how much it troubled you to cast your vote as i did......for Darlene. bri :)
While still hoping some outside votes will brighten up our little poetry party, here are my comments and vote for the January Contest winner... 1. Although I do like Bri a lot An intellectual he is not, Nor has he ever claimed to be Much more than ‘monk’ (out of his tree) , His God though leaves me wanting more, An indecisive brutish bore, Still funny is as funny does, Bri Edward’s silly poem was. 2. No Comment… 3. Well Russian life’s a dismal treat For even those with food to eat, With leaders’ antics so bizarre To see it live would blush a Tsar, Their motives Machiavellian, Make prophetic words Orwellian But Diane’s poem made me sad For Russian people have been had. 4. Abekah’s poem on its head, It’s works of kindness left unsaid, All horrors fresh on nightly news, With fifty channels we can choose, Though criminals their glory gain, Good men not mentioned for their pain, Confirms our judgment of each other, No one really is my brother! 5. Now Darlene seems to me a sage, Though close to youngest on this page, She recognizes words obtuse Though she puts them to daily use And few but poets really can, Release confusion fresh to man And find a poultice for their plight, That strange cocktail of black on white. My vote this month goes to Darlene Welsh though I have to admit it just kills me to agree with Bri Edwards on anything! : -)
Having been cautioned by the Commissioner of Elections to refrain from dumping votes in long comments, I shall openly and without much words, cast my vote. Bravo to all contestants for beautiful entries this season........Now my vote goes to Bri Edwards....although his poem long, I found it very captivating.
All wonderful entries again this month and I'm looking forward to next month. While I do love Zebra's and Unicorns, my vote this month goes to Diane for an incentive to learn and for a very touching story. Darla :)
Bri A nice creation poem, about Zebras being modern art lol :) (and of course the Unicorn, who doesn't love Unicorns) And I would like to see a three hump camel (goes to look through my old Dr Suese books think I saw one there?) 'The Moon said 'golden crescents' I would have thought silver crescents, that was very generous of the moon to suggest something golden colored. Nice rhyming, flowed very nicely and was a lot of fun to read. Brian Some nice rhymes and it flowed ok. And I think it was about the absurdity of racism and a possibility for the future of humankind? Not sure I really understand it all, but then I usually miss something. But I did enjoy reading it. Diane I like stories where I learn something, and now I need to read One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich (needed Google for this) . You and Ivan sharing your respective days, how so very different. It brought tears to my eyes. The line 'like tommy gun-toting sheep', great line, I guess the guards are just blindly doing their jobs while others suffer, I've heard that before. I know a bit about some other human tragedies, but I know very little about Soviet Russia so I have now added to my Need To Read list. Abekah Human tragedies come in many sizes, from mass atrocities to pain for just a single person. And always someone evil to commit them. Even the small tragedies are terrible if you are the victim. Your last few lines express hope, which would be nice if it happens, but I don't believe in such hope as long as the nature of humanity remains unchanged. Few people are good, most are simply not evil, but there will always be far to many who are truly evil.

ALSO, voting on this 'january' contest is open to PH members through the end of February 12th, California Pacific Time. submissions are due in another four days, by the end of February 5th Pacific Time. hurry up abekah! ! ! bri :)
There will surely be a court case this month....hmmmmm.....my poem is not yet posted! The clock is ticking........
Thank you so much for the comment and the vote for my short poem. The metaphor Twins raised some question and guess. To answer Diana- no, I am not a scientific person and was not aware of Hugh Everett's theory in terms of quantum mechanics. (I have googled it now!) However I am aware of MWI through channels of religion and philosophy. As a matter of fact religion envisions a Supreme Consciousness where past present and future exist together. It's further claim is that at the highest weakening of human consciousness all can exist in a human being too. The word twin simply gives a hint of that unity. I hope this answers Bri's question too. Thank you Darlene for your comment. I also liked your poem.
