Acculturation Poem by Doris Cornago

Acculturation

Bloom
In the gloom
An orchid so unique
Not all favor your color
Only the heart sees perfect
Vicissitudes formed latitudes
Conquest of multiple cultures
Contrasted from tedious fools
Strewn about by filthy bores
Kindly, stately, solitary
Scorned, yet unbowed
Separate from crowd
Splendor mirrored
Eager and proud
Elan imbued
Delicate
Melody

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Acculturation is a sociological term that explains the process of people from different cultural backgrounds residing and settling together as one community. When we cease to prejudge a man by his color and beliefs and consider him as a unique, interesting individual, then we can truly reach across cultural and geographical boundaries and attain harmony.

Doris Cornago, So pretty, your poem, and the message resonates with me and an acceptance of all colorful colors, creed, sexual orientation and status. Flowers, rare! Thank you, Gio
