A Work Of The Heart Poem by soren Barrett

A Work Of The Heart

A work of the heart
from the teeth of critics flossed
a fragile fetus of art
in the sewer of humanity tossed

abandoned neglected an aborted start
not detected in a vast sea of verse lost
consigned to oblivion since its placental depart
its memory rejected a forgotten child its cost

Words stolen from the ink of a discarded feather
resurrected from the predilected worms of rot
a cannibalistic existence to weather
decaying old poems, new life begot
