Lovely poem. Our living arrangements make us dependent to one another but we mustn’t depend on any body for our happiness.
Wise words from a wise man, but I never knew he wrote poems as well, and what a surprise!

Ironic rejection in an era when women should have been subservient to men.
Very good portrayal of a woman who, after being left alone by her lover, would not like to reveal her anxiety or pain. She would rather show her indifference to her lover' absence while indulging in her daily activities in a normal manner. Great poem.
