As I beheld a flower of rare beauty
In the silence choked heart of wilderness
The facsimile of a pretty woman came alive
From the coagulated heap of images

A lovely penning about the exquisite creation of a woman by God. But as I believe that God also had no other way beside creating this woman, since that person also had no such impetus to move ahead. As we know that greatest creations come out at the point of big hindrance only. Hence to me woman is a big surprise to God also...... very commanding write. However, long back I wrote a poem An amazing sculpture (with a diff, perspective and surprise but with some similarity also) may read and tell me.

Is there a man not knowing a woman either as sister or love or as the great mother? If there is any, the girls will not leave him undisturbed. She sparks his heart and makes him mad. If she doesn't like him, she calls him 'brother' and fools him to be listless in life. The poetess has chiseled out a model she likes. That is wonderful. The society may be patriarchal or matriarchal. The springs of emotions of love of all kinds will not be going dry.

I like the image of Woman as the achievement of the Greatest Artist of all, GOD, whose calligraphy shaped Woman's form. And this form is both an exterior beauty which is easy to see and grasp and an interior beauty which is often overlooked, which disparages God's calligraphy. This poem really touches a nerve. I read all of the comments below and every one is a personal encounter with your poem and the theme of Womanhood. Our modern urban secular societies give women so many mixed signals, it's confusion and ignorance. but your poem exalts woman's traditional beauty and summons us, women and men alike, to celebrate that presence in the world.

Woman is the mother who sustains life on earth. The poem is a beautiful rendering of all important roles played by a woman.

Lovely poem and so well said. You began the poem describing the physical beauty of a woman, but the hen went far beyond that. The last two stanzas reveal her substance and value. Thanks for sharing this beautifully written piece.

A woman…….! Isn’t she God’s supreme handiwork An animated form of chiseled art A joy to behold Who the devil can deny, I bow my head before this beautiful poem.

Woman is rightly regarded as the Pioneer Godess of Strength (Aadi- Shakti) and is adulated in India in a form or other even by worst characters. The fantastic narration of woman's strengths, including mesmerizing beauty, is superb. The reiteration in the poem that she deserves to be adulated has, no doubt, become need of the hour due to acts of misfits in the society who insult the divine sanction of superiority to woman. Enjoyed the poem. Thanks for sharing.10+++

Women have been an important part of my life. My mother was a role model, my friends are glorious, my daughters are wonders. Beautiful and desirable, equal and special. To just touch a soft hand, while engaging a soft heart is a man's delight

I found a heart touching description on woman here so nicely and wisely presented. A woman is really .......A loving daughter to her parents An adorable mate to her man A forgiving mother to all The fountain spring of new life The lovely mother to her children! Wise diction. Thanks for sharing.....10

A breathing portrait of a woman who fascinates the world with her physical beauty and with all her stellar roles she plays at various stages of her life. Very nicely essayed. Thanks for sharing the poem, Valsa ji. I would like to quote a few lines: A figure of curvaceous ups and downs / God’s beautiful calligraphy / Eyes reflecting love and gentleness / Voice musical and sweet

[...]How empty is a man’s life Who hasn’t known a woman, [...] Unfortunately, most of us men, are not at all interested in 'knowing' a woman, but more like knowing what our and our society's idea of what a woman is and/or should be.. Your poem reminds me of de Beauvoir and the likes of French Feminists who argued about the masquarade of the feminine values.. I wish men and WOMEN actually understoof women better, for it is no surprise that both men and surprisingly (to my knowledge) many women are actually strong supporters of Patriarchal values and are sheer misogynists... Thank you for this beautiful poem ma'am...

Souren..... I am not a feminist! But I am saddened that unfortunately, a woman's true worth is never realized by men and as you say, even women! Many a time, we can see a woman becoming a woman's greatest enemy! But in a patriarchal society, where woman is degraded and looked upon as a commodity' there can be no healthy development or meaningful human relationships! Often we see afamily going to the dogs, if the woman there is abused or if she doesn't exhibit her innate feminine charms.... Thanks for your detailed evaluation of the poem!
