A Wing and a Prayer for Those in Texas

Prayer for those in a Storm Hurricane Harvey

Lord hear my prayer over those in Texas
Diminish the storm called 'hurricane harvey'
suffering, hardship, anguish, pain
adversity has come and brought it's rain
life has a way of using tragedy to build courage
gaining patience, strength and trust
how many days to touch the dust
how many more days will it take
this overwhelming strife to make
the character and hearts by test
to bring all these grieving Texans rest
Tested, unshakeable, and strengthened faith
I even desire a closer relationship with you
from my numbed underreacting empathetic
heart of stone and numbness
I do not feel-can not feel
Is that how we are to live
Is that how they are to survive?
Be there, Lord, You promise to be there
with them in their greatest hours of need
day to day-hour-by hour-minute by minute
bind up their broken-heartedness
bind up their wounds
wipe away their tears
comfort all who are mourning
take away their despair
heal your people, Lord
life's tragedies- hide in the pain
If only, Lord, will you stop the rain
Rescue those from the mire
do not let them sink
rescue them from the waters
Be with them through this flood
Lord, I pray for those everywhere
the afflicted, the desperate, the homeless
Lord, I pray out of Your empathy
You instill empathy and love in my heart
You restore empathy and love in other's hearts
I pray that they receive the faith you speak of
be their refuge in this oppression
help them in their hope with songs of deliverance
as I put my hope in You
as they put their hope in You
Our hearts go out to them
You are our hearts cry
for we are the extension of Your hands and feet
