the concept of the poem is good, though it brings out the picture of a mother caring for the child, it has room for further development where more in depth feel could be brought out.. anyways the poem was good.

the setting of the poem and the expression of the mothers anxiousness for the child is obvious in the poem.a mother feeds her baby with so much warmth and love, it is admirable.great poem ravi.thanks for sharing. ritty

A beautiful poem, Ravi about a subject that is truly an amazing opportunity for a mother to fully nurture her child. I have had the experience myself and so happy I did. Not all situations are good ones, of course, as Seema so skillfully describes. '10+! ' my friend. Warm Wishes, Marilyn

Breastfeeding is a wonderful and unique experience ! It's a natural act and behaviour that should be meditated upon and admired...There is a big wisdom behind it, and its benefits are great for the babies. A good subject to tackle.

A fantastic poem speaking in favour of a woman who toils in the hot sun and caring for her baby at the same time. This is fate of many labor class today as we notice everywhere in the country.

Hi Ravi - My Ladies who are Mothers tell me that the most important facet in bonding with their neonate was Breast Feeding. Personally I always think the vision of a mother feeding her baby at her breast is one of the most emotive visons in human experience. One of my evening class students used to bring her suckling child to the class and feed her in the Coffee Break it turned the Laboratory into a Temple! In the UK we are trying to lift the taboo on breast feeding in Public Places - it is as natural as us having a cup of tea why get prudish about it! Your poem is a gem. Awesome subject - Good versification - Good metre and flow - Free verse therefore no intentional rhyme. Excellent use of English and Grammar! The action words make it work song - 'Beating' 'Hammering' 'Clatter' 'A weighing hammer' etc. There is stark contrast between the inequality of a nursing mother having to endure the arduousness of track repair - I have been in a team using synchronous sledge hammers and it is hard work even for young fit men. While her mother is working (of necessity) under the blazing sun her baby 'Sleeps in soft dreams'. What makes this poem mega is the irony of the clash between 'The Weighing Hammer' securing the rails to the Earth - and 'The Weighing Breast' - replete with life giving 'mother milk' securing the life of the baby. The latter is infinitely more importnat than the former - it is the source of life itself! 'Beyond a weighing hammar - She carries a wieghing breast for a waking life' - this is so so beautiful - heart breakingly beautiful. My score is 10 x 10! Your Friend in Poetry - JOHN.

The poem, despite some excellent scenes of realism, is symbolistic in structure. There are remarkable passages in the narrative The poem is written with the quizical interplay of emotion and detachment that such a mother naturally feels and, conversely, is expected to feel. This endeavor to convey the symbolistic, pointilistic impressionism for being adapted to narrative is very effective. Excellent poem.Thank you for sharing....10++++++++++
