The altos of the larks ascending
And of the lake's uplifting fountain
Soprano swoops of swift and swallow..
As I'm walking through the park.

Thank you Tom for this lovely stroll around the park, I so enjoyed it ;)
One day we'll have a stroll together with Jude in Edinburgh's parks. That would be even lovelier.
Pathetic? I think not! I liked the gentle and occasional introduction of alliteration- -and I must admit the boys and girls ogling each other brought back a memory or three. And you know how I love rounding things off with repetition. I see no sign of pesky squirrels though... so I think I must- -I really must- - challenge you to do a nutty wildlife poem.... ;)
And I accept. Squirrels obviously must feature but if I fail to mention Mr Purry I might end up as cat food. I need some inspiration as I've been struggling with two poem this evening. The air has been blue with swearing! oddly they've both involved animals. One is about snakes I used to have and that sloughing of their skins. The sloughed skin looked ghost like and had the feel and look of linen or silk. And the snake itself looked sparkling as if it had just come out of water. I've an idea how to use the image but my mind kept going blank! So maybe in the morning I'll call on the squirrels for something new and leave those other pots on the simmer!
I agree with Susan. Even though such delights are rare in my local environment I thought the images you created were clear and bright and left me with a yearning to enjoy them myself. You, however, have made vicarious enjoyment easily attained.
This is for Greg's comment below! Our own village park is a bit drab but there is a particularly fine one in Blackpool (about eight miles away) . Oddly enough when I re-read my poem it struck me that the poem's rhythm was influenced by one of my favourite songs.. Walking on the Moon by the Police. This has the same effect on me. As I tend to the lyrical I'm easily influenced by music particularly reggae type sounds!
