A View Of The Seaside Poem by Reginald Reid

A View Of The Seaside

SEASCAPE

Driven on by wind she rises up in swells
as buoys announce each wave with clanging bells.
Seabed shallows roll each wave in frothing foam
and hosting grasses for free creatures make a home.

Sand and broken rock create the shore
where once were cliffs that are no more
upon whose mighty heights
soaring birds could nest and take their flights.

Life abounds amongst the sand, beneath the waves
in holes, on ledges and in caves.
Myriad creatures big and small
survive in seas pacific or in squall.

When crashing waves assault the shore
a spray is born releasing perfume held in store.
Spread out shells devoid of life, so colourful
in their many forms acknowledge Neptune's rule.

Wind and waves in constant roaring,
seagulls constant squawk and soaring,
fishers hopeful, swimmers calling,
no rest at night, no time for snoring.

For there the choice is set for everyone
to see the sunrise or the setting sun,
to watch the storm in rage or doldrum's still,
the salve for all for every kind of ill.
