It seems I have found some fellow formal poets. A beautiful Shakespearean sonnet Joe. Fourteen lines couched in iambic pentameter, the octet so poignant and wistful, the volta carrying us forward into a promise of hope. I've been there and this is a very moving poem.
A great poem and beautiful love sonnet but love never dies 10/10 BB: O)
A brilliant sonnet Jo, I loved it, it brings back memories of my dear wife.
I love Smoky's comment..... A poem from the heart.....and blessed...
Superb sonnet, Joseph. Touching and the wisdom expressed is so beautiful. I fully agree that the bitterness of the beginning of a great loss often makes place for the sweetness of the memories. Great poetry.
So many words of truth, love and beauty in your write. Love never dies only fond memories will cause it to live on. Your feelings expressed here is exemplified in your poem. I so loved reading it!
A beautifully transparent picture of a true heart... yours. Lucidly wonderful words Joseph.
Though future days may never be as sweet, Fond memories shall ease the load I bear. That is a great consolation! The sweet memories will act as a balm to all bruises! Only a couple lived in love and mutual trust can have such sweet memories to cherish for a life time! Life has to go on even if one is gone. After all we are not permanent residents of this world! A very moving and sweet write and a beautiful dedication!
a sweet and endearing sonnet. to a departed love one. a pleasure to read
Came back for another look Joe. It still catches me under the ribcage. Can't beat a sonnet for emphasising emotions.
