Have you smelled
That hyacinth in springtime
Before it is wrapped
By a long glistening
Tapestry of frost?
Have you seen
The bud of a rose
In its most tender state
Before it is touched
By the blustery wind?
Have you tasted
That fresh sun - ripened
Garden tomatoes
Right off the vine?
Oh, so sweet,
So raw,
And so compelling!
