oh, it's so hard to write anything about the poem which is written excelently and professionally without knowing to whom it is devoted. I really sorry that I don't know the leader, whom You loved so much. But all the same it is a nice poem

I must cogratulate you for publishing this tribute within an hour of Mr Basu's death on 17th Jan10, but I did not want to be the first one to comment! The poem pays your sincere respect & as a poem it is great! But I have mixed feelings about him! When I was a student in The Calcutta Boys' School, he was my hero & I recall those fiery speeches delivered under the Monument! He was the pioneer & initiated the 'land for the tiller movement' & established the party at the grass root level giving it a rock -like foundation! I do feel privileged for being an English Literature student like him from the same College (1966) ! But the second half of the regime was disappointing! His son greatly tranished his image too! Industries fled from our 'city of processions' & WB got plunged into the 'dark ages' of load -shedding, party politics and party bickering! The middle class unemployed were forced to leave seeking better prospects outside WB! Today's TOI has coverd these aspects also! Perhaps he would have been a beneficial PM for India! Your tribute is great! 10! - Raj
