A Tree Poem by Sanjib Saha

A Tree

A tree

We had a tree, an amra tree. Its leaves were green, turning yellow and falling on our heads and bodies. The tree provided shade, and sunlight filtered through the gaps, illuminating us. We would roll around on the ground, basking in the light, and play around the tree. When we lay down, the sky would seem to descend and whisper secrets in the breeze.

We had a tree with fruit, amra fruit! The ripe fruit was full of childhood, and as we savored it, we grew older, yet continued to grow even more.
