A Total Loss Of Hearing Poem by Dorsey Baker

A Total Loss Of Hearing

Nothing safe
as it used to be
its hard to find freedom
when nobody is free
being in love
with being clothed
because nakedness
is what we fear
and because of loneliness
we shed a salty tear
we want to be bigger
and better
but we don't know
where to start
when everybody
is ignorant
trying to pretend
to be smart
when you become
an animal
you lose your soul
and the heart
becomes a stone
when it turns cold
