Rating: 5.0

As those stale memories pervade my heart to the brim,
A long lost torment creeps up from around the corner.
A startling knock, a sudden jolt,
A few menacing inclinations awake an asleep soul.

I can imagine the depth of this amazing little poem! Last two lines are the epitome of this beautiful poem! Most significantly, the simile in the last line which acts as the title of this beautiful poem is just fabulous! Liked it so much….10

Hi Aarzoo, Beautiful poem. Philosophical, but earthly. It is true, everybody is a refugee here. As one of our most famous writers, Vakom Mohammed Basheer has put it, we own nothing on earth. Even the land on which you have built your abode belong to trillions of beings of all kinds and species that lived and still live there. You are just a refugee in their land; they have kindly allowed you stay. Even the oxygen you breath is the benevolence all the green trees and plants, who have chosen shade you from the hot sun. And still man thinks, the earth, nay the universe belong to him! How absurd. Thank you Aarzoo for sharing this nice poem and prompting the thoughts.

A striking image of a bleeding heart torn and tormented by memories! They knock in at unexpected moments, bewildering and leaving us tired and exhausted!

If only those stale memories, feelings, and tender regrets did find an abode... It would have been so much better... Like Kelly, this poem struck a chord with me.. The comparison is beautiful.. Simple, sweet, and short but it hits the nail with just the right force.. Thanks Arzoo.. A perfect 10..

'stale memories.... A long lost torment.... A few menacing inclinations'.... 'Like a tired refugee' seek their own space in the heart of a lacerating soul. Thanks.
