A Teacher Poem by Michael Eziudo

A Teacher

A teacher
The only one
That keeps the light burning until you're lit
That keeps you dreaming until it's built
That corrects you until you're smart

A teacher
Ever friendly and loving
Ever looking out for your rising
Believes in you more than you do yourself
Tells you I believe in you
When clearly you're wrong
And I'm proud of you when you're right

Most romantic person:
Tells you the truth with loving jovial voice
Yet, firm in his stands
Tender in his approach
Yet persuasive in his reach
Hard on you to get it done
Yet celebrates with you when it's done

A teacher
Least paid but loaded by grace
Least recognised but remembered for life
The unpleasant memories of times not appreciated
And the pleasnt memories of times in the past
Whose great works of care and love
Are only seen at last

Thank you to you
Who recognized early
That your ward be taught
That the reward of a teacher is here
In heaven we get all as equal
But on earth,
The rewards of love's labours
A teacher!
