A Summer Dream Poem by Elizabeth Leung

A Summer Dream

Rating: 3.0

watch the stars collide and the beam of lights
explode in a cloudy midnight, for you and I
because i love you till the end of the universe
i love you, and that's the truth

the petals fall, they wither and
die but i love you, more red than a rose,
more tender than a bud so fine,
more loving than the blossoms
that cling to the vine.

dreamily we take, a walk through the woods,
hand in hand, under the sleepy moonlit trees,
admist the cold chilly silence
to the beat of each other's heart we listen.

the soft drizzle comes, with my fingers i brush
away the raindrops on your eyebrows
all is dark, but morning will soon come,
welcomed by sweet dewdrops upon the grass.

choppy waters they might pull you under,
but the pretty snowflake is not without its
chilliness, roses not without their
thorns, the sun not without its glare,
the grass not without their blades.

like how the crimson paint spills across
the gallant blue sky during sunrise, and how the
wild bright-eyed asters bloom in may,
for my lover i write a poem, with my heart i bind,
to last you every moment.
