A Sufi In New Jersey Poem by Sumita Jetley

A Sufi In New Jersey

In New Jersey's heart, where the city hums,
Lives Saira, a Sufi, where simplicity comes.
Her cozy apartment, plants in bloom,
A sanctuary of peace, away from the gloom.

Rich in spirit, her soul shines bright,
In meditation's glow, she finds her light.
With daily dhikr, her purity sings,
In simple chants, her soul takes wings.

No grand mansions, no cars in line,
Just the grandeur of a heart divine.
Her joy in sunsets, a warm cup of tea,
In life's little moments, she finds her glee.

At the art exhibition, minimalist views,
Community formed, with kindred hues.
Volunteering, her humble heart serves,
In every action, her devotion swerves.

Walks by Hudson, reflections deep,
Elder's tales, wisdom to keep.
Harmony with nature, a garden she tends,
In earth's embrace, her soul transcends.

Following legacies of Sufis old,
Rumi's words, in her heart hold.
Expressions of love, in prayers deep,
In simple life, her grandeur keeps.

But here's the twist, in her simple ways,
Lies a grandeur, in her days.
Not about having less, but living more,
In deep connections, her spirit soars.

As the sun sets, New Jersey's skies,
On her rooftop terrace, peace never dies.
Friends see beauty, in her humble grace,
In Saira's life, simplicity finds its place.

Next time you think, of minimal ways,
Remember Saira's peaceful days.
A life rich in spirit, pure and grand,
In Sufi's path, true wealth stands.
