A Strange And Sadsweet Pochishe Baisakh, May 8,2016

Just a few drops of rain
and rushing home
from the somnolent soiree- -

High on delivery
and low on promise- -

One, yes exactly, One song per singer.

The raindrops like smiles from heaven
Just an excuse to catch a glimpse of You.
Hoping against hope
looking for that glimmer of white
among a sea of purple,
the unsmiling Buddha beside you- -
strangely your brand of cascadence
had no effect on him)
Seeing 'your boys'
up against the Bravehearts
of your Lionland.

The Gujju 'other' and the Bangladeshi 'other'
(common coinage, not mine)
steadied the rocking ship.
Longing eyes searched you among the crowd,
But you weren't there at all.

Then sometime during the break
'my little one'
(feverish with a running nose)
surfing channels, brought 'you'
and your 'Moon Cousin',
perhaps more of the willowy variety
into our drawing room- -
Scintillating divas in slapstick comedy show.

And i saw you still glistening
after all these years....
The same FlashDiamond Waterfall smile.

But soon all hell broke loose- -

My Home Minister sent me on an urgent errand
(hell, should've thought so myself)
I had to rush
and landed nanoseconds
before closing time
in a medicine shop,
the only one open at that ungodly hour- -
once frequented, but now avoided
for various reasons,
partly argumentative,
partly tauntactual
to get medicine for the 'Little One'.

By the time i got back home
'Your' boys were losing badly,

But there you were GoddesSupreme
Shining and smiling and glistening
On another channel;
Even 'Yellow Moon'
With all her willowy elegance and grace,
The 'Director's Actor'
Unable to match you
In freshness and vivacity.

And so, despite the sparks flying
all around me, i could keep my head
and not lose my heart
to a drunkenymph lying
all inviting on the Garden Road

So thank you Goddess
for the Strange and Sublime EveningShow
and the Sadsweet Benediction
of your Divine Presence.
